Ejiofor Calls for Probe of Alleged Kidney-Harvesting Syndicate in Abuja

Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has called for an independent investigation into allegations of illegal kidney harvesting involving vulnerable young Nigerians. He cited a police investigation that reportedly led to the arrest of four suspects in Nasarawa State, including two nephrologists linked to a hospital in Life Camp, Abuja, and an alleged recruiter. The suspects are accused of using forged or manipulated identity and consent documents to facilitate the alleged scheme. Ejiofor said poverty and desperation cannot amount to informed consent. He urged authorities to identify and support possible victims, trace all financial and document trails, and prosecute anyone found culpable.
