Probe Launched After Ikere-Ekiti Hotel Party Stampede Kills Three
Ekiti State Police have opened an inquiry into a stampede at Emirate Hotel in Ikere-Ekiti that claimed three lives. The victims include a hotel staff member and two students from Bamidele Olumiluwa University of Education, Science and Technology. The students were celebrating their convocation when an argument between two guests sparked panic. According to the police spokesman, SP Sunday Abutu, the fight led other partygoers to rush for the exits, resulting in the fatal crush. The bodies have been taken to the morgue for autopsy. Commissioner of Police Falade Adegoroye offered condolences to the families and assured the public that a thorough investigation is under way. Residents have been urged to remain calm as details emerge.
