Edo Police Raid Ohonre Community, Nab Maphite Cultists and Recover Firearm
Operatives from the Edo State Police Command disrupted a gathering of suspected Maphite cultists in Ohonre Community, Benin City. The raid followed a distress call on May 21st around 7pm about the convergence of armed youths. Troops from Ugbowo Division stormed the location. Two suspects, Victor Peter (21) and Iyemoma Ogbewe (35), were arrested while others fled. A cut-to-size gun was recovered during a search on the scene. Both suspects admitted membership of the notorious Maphite cult group. Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplices and bring them to justice. Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika praised the swift response of the operatives. He urged residents to keep providing timely and credible information to the command for prompt action.
