Mother and Housemate Indicted in Starvation Death of 5-Year-Old in Alabama
A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted Raven Rogers, 34, and 30-year-old Saiyah Ferguson for the starvation death of five-year-old Jaedah Robinson last fall. The coroner ruled Robinson’s death a homicide after she was taken to hospital in October but died later that day. Prosecutors say Rogers failed to provide adequate nutrition and medical care. Ferguson, who lived in the same home, is accused of participating in aggravated child neglect. Rogers faces criminally negligent homicide charges and an additional count of endangering her older daughter. Ferguson is charged with felony murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond, while Rogers was released on bond.
