Ejiofor Urges Mbah to Probe Death of NDC Supporter, Prosecute Culprits
Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has urged Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah to order a thorough and transparent investigation into political violence that reportedly claimed the life of Christopher Nworie, an indigene of Affa in Udi Local Government Area. Ejiofor called for those responsible to be identified and prosecuted. He warned that growing political intolerance ahead of the 2027 general elections could threaten peace and security in Enugu State and the wider South-East. He also referred to reports that a traditional ruler in Nsukka was suspended after receiving an NDC candidate. Ejiofor said the reported incidents raise concerns about free political participation, and urged political parties, supporters and security agencies to prevent further violence. While acknowledging the governor's directive for an investigation into the clash, he called for an impartial inquiry, public findings and support for the bereaved family where appropriate.
