Army Alleges Police Non-Cooperation During Plateau Security Response
The Nigerian Army has accused some police officers of failing to cooperate with troops responding to reports of gunfire in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, said soldiers from Sector 3 were deployed after a distress call on October 20 reported sporadic gunfire in Mai Farin Moto, Maraban Dere and nearby communities. A resident, Adamu Suleiman, was reportedly killed in the incident. The task force said tensions arose when troops tried to engage police personnel already at the scene. It maintained that the deployment was to protect residents and prevent further violence. Military authorities said the matter is being handled through inter-agency channels to establish the facts and prevent a repeat of the incident.
