Ghanaian Beautician, Three Others Remanded Over Alleged $260m Drug Shipment to France
A Ghanaian High Court has remanded beautician Jessica Hartog and three other suspects over the alleged exportation of about four tonnes of prohibited drugs from Ghana to France. French authorities reportedly intercepted a 40-foot container in Dunkirk in September 2026. The shipment was declared as plastic waste but allegedly contained concealed drugs valued at about $260 million. Investigators said searches linked to the arrests recovered firearms, ammunition, luxury vehicles, passports and cash. All four defendants pleaded not guilty, while a fifth suspect, Dutch national Jos Leijdekkers, is reportedly still at large. The case has been adjourned until October 13, 2026.
