Customs Officer Dies After Vehicle Hits Tree While Avoiding Pothole in Cross River
A 54-year-old Nigeria Customs Service officer, Etteng Ise, has died in a lone crash on the Ikom-Calabar Highway in Cross River State. Police said the crash occurred near Alesi Village in Ikom Local Government Area at about 2:56 p.m. on Monday. Ise, who was serving at the Mfum Border in Etung LGA, reportedly lost control of his vehicle while trying to avoid a pothole. The vehicle reportedly veered into the bush and struck a tree. He was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Ikom, where he was confirmed dead. Police have urged motorists to drive cautiously and remain alert to poor road conditions.
