Agbonayinma Gives EFCC 14 Days to Reopen Alleged Atiku Corruption Case

Former lawmaker Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to reopen and prosecute an alleged financial-crimes case involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Through his lawyer, Agbonayinma gave the EFCC 14 days to act, warning that he would sue the commission if it fails to respond. He said the agency investigated allegations against Atiku in 2005 and 2006 and reportedly issued a report in September 2006. The petition also referred to a 2010 US Senate committee report and urged the EFCC to reactivate both reports as the basis for prosecution. The allegations in the petition have not been determined by a court.
