PR Alone Cannot Repair Damage Caused by Poor Corporate Conduct, George-Taylor Says

Organisations must treat reputation management as a leadership responsibility, not just a public relations task, communications executive Tokunboh George-Taylor said at the Nigeria Digital Public Relations Summit in Lagos. She said trust is built through a company’s conduct, customer service, treatment of employees and ability to keep its promises. While businesses can control the messages they release, they cannot control how the public interprets them. She added that digital reach, likes and impressions do not automatically create credibility. The Minister of Information and National Orientation also urged communication professionals to prioritise accuracy, accountability and public trust over the race for online engagement.
