Customs Seizes Cannabis-Infused Cookies and Drugs Worth ₦3.62bn at Tin Can Port
The Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service says it intercepted two 40-foot containers carrying cannabis-infused cookies, gummies and other suspected illicit substances concealed in imported vehicles and spare parts. Customs said the seizure followed joint vigilance by its officers and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. One container reportedly held 890 packs of Delta-8 cannabis-infused cookies and gummies weighing 598.08kg, alongside two used vehicles. A second container was found with 1,207 packages of cannabis weighing 603.75kg, with an estimated street value of ₦3.62bn. Officials said smugglers are increasingly using containerised cargo and vehicles to hide prohibited substances at Nigerian seaports.
