Man Sentenced to Death for Murdering Toddler to Marry His Mother
A court in Uttar Pradesh, India has sentenced Viraj, also known as Jitendra Pathak, to death for the brutal killing of 18-month-old Aarav. The Firozabad District and Sessions Court concluded the trial just 40 days after the May 2026 incident. Prosecutors presented CCTV footage, 13 witnesses and a swift charge sheet filed within six days. According to investigators, Pathak lured the child on the pretext of buying a toffee before slamming him onto the road, causing fatal injuries. The public prosecutor praised the speed of the investigation and trial. Pathak displayed visible distress upon hearing the sentence. The death penalty verdict will now move through the mandatory appeal process before it can take effect.
