Power Minister Says Some Areas Now Get Up to 18 Hours of Electricity Daily
Power Minister Joseph Tegbe says electricity supply has improved in some communities that previously went months without power. Speaking at the commissioning of a 3-megawatt solar-hybrid power project at Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, Tegbe said some residents jokingly asked him to slow down because their freezers were now running continuously. He said Nigerians should expect noticeable improvements within three to six months, while acknowledging that much of the country’s power infrastructure is over 40 years old. According to him, the government is replacing ageing facilities gradually.
