Gunmen Kill Three Kaduna Vigilante Operatives During Highway Chase
Three members of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVIS) were reportedly killed by gunmen on the Zuntu–Zaria Road in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident occurred at about 12:20 a.m. on Monday while the operatives were conducting stop-and-search duties at a checkpoint. A red Volkswagen Golf allegedly approached at high speed and refused to stop. The officers reportedly pursued the vehicle in their patrol car. During the chase, the KADVIS deputy commander in Kubau LGA, identified as Mamiyo, was shot. A resident said there was an exchange of gunfire before the attackers allegedly returned to the checkpoint and shot another officer. The killings have left residents of the area worried over worsening insecurity along the highway.
