Airtel Launches Open Network Feature to Show Coverage and Let Subscribers Report Issues
Airtel Nigeria has launched its Open Network feature on the My Airtel App, allowing subscribers to view nearby 4G and 5G sites, ongoing upgrades and planned network sites within a 500-metre radius. The feature also allows customers to send feedback directly through the app when they experience coverage, capacity or service-quality problems. Airtel says the feedback will help it identify areas needing engineering upgrades. The Nigerian Communications Commission welcomed the initiative, while noting that service quality will continue to be assessed using industry standards and evidence. Airtel added that coverage information does not guarantee uninterrupted service, as buildings, device type and local congestion can affect connectivity. The telecoms company says it will roll out user guides and demonstrations to help subscribers use the feature nationwide.
