From Baking Cakes to Fixing Nails: How Funke Akindele Hustled Through UNILAG

In a recent interview, Funke Akindele opened up about the side jobs she took to support herself at the University of Lagos. She learned to fix nails in Yaba and even recalls being slapped by a dissatisfied customer. She also sold cakes to makeup artist Bimpe Onakoya, customised costumes for Nollywood stars and worked as a location manager. Funke rented bed space on campus and dabbled in make-up and costuming to make ends meet. These hustles, she says, taught her discipline and gave her the firm mindset she carries into her acting and producing career today.
