US Airman Says Prayer Sustained Him After Crash and Rescue in Iran

A US Air Force weapons-systems officer has described surviving a crash in Iran after an Iranian missile damaged his parachute. The airman, identified only by his call sign for security reasons, said he prayed after realising he was falling without a functioning parachute. He survived the impact but suffered injuries to his back, arm and shoulder. He reportedly hid for two days in mountainous desert terrain before a US search-and-rescue team recovered him. The airman described his survival and rescue as a modern-day miracle, saying his first message to the team was, “God is good.”
