CYMS DG Calls for Full Local Government Autonomy at Abuja Forum
The Director-General of the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization, Chief Obinna Nwaka, has called for the full financial and political autonomy of local governments. Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs in Abuja on October 27, 2026, Nwaka said autonomy was necessary to improve grassroots governance, accountability and public services. He urged government agencies to turn recommendations from policy meetings into practical programmes that benefit communities. Nwaka also commended the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Onwusoro Maduka IhemeIandu, for supporting service delivery and intergovernmental collaboration.
