Kano Police Question Assembly Candidate Over Alleged Firearm Display at Rally
The Kano State Police Command has invited Aminu Abdullahi Warkal, the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate for Gwale Constituency in the House of Assembly, over an alleged firearm display at a campaign rally. Police said officers spotted a video online showing Warkal allegedly holding what appeared to be a pump-action rifle during a political gathering. The command said such a display, if confirmed, could violate the Firearms Act and threaten public peace. Warkal is reportedly with the State Intelligence Department in Kano, where an investigation is ongoing. The police urged politicians and their supporters to avoid thuggery, weapons and other conduct that could disrupt the political process.
