Arewa Youth Group Plans Protests in Abuja, Sokoto and Bauchi Over Fuel Prices
The Arewa Youths Assembly for Good Leadership says it will hold peaceful protests on Thursday, September 24, in Abuja, Sokoto and Bauchi over rising petrol prices. The group said petrol now sells for between ₦1,700 and almost ₦2,000 per litre in parts of Northern Nigeria, putting further pressure on households, transport costs and businesses. It has asked the Federal Government to intervene urgently and called for the resignation or removal of the NMDPRA chief over alleged regulatory failures. The assembly said more than 100 youth, civil society and community groups could participate, and it has requested police protection to keep the demonstrations orderly.
