NSCDC Arrests Four Over Alleged Cable Vandalism in Abuja
The NSCDC FCT Command says it has arrested four suspects in separate operations over alleged cable vandalism and the handling of suspected stolen electrical materials in Abaji, Kubwa and Wuye, Abuja. Commandant Olusola Odumosu said vandalism disrupts electricity supply, affects small businesses, schools and healthcare facilities, and raises the cost of maintaining essential services. He also warned that tampering with electrical installations can cause electrocution and fires. In Kubwa, operatives reportedly recovered about 38 rolls of electrical cables, cut power cables and tools after an alleged break-in at Government Secondary School. Other arrests involved suspected high-tension cable storage in Abaji and the alleged removal of armoured cables near Berger Roundabout in Wuye. The command said investigations are ongoing, with some alleged accomplices still at large. Residents and scrap-metal dealers were urged to report suspicious activity around public electricity infrastructure.
