Nigeria Sends Minister of State to Russia-Africa Summit as Shettima Misses Event
Nigeria is being represented at the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sola Enikanolaiye. President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu are not attending. Nigeria’s ambassador to Russia had earlier said Shettima would lead the delegation. However, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said the minister was reassigned to another duty, leading to Enikanolaiye’s deployment for the two-day summit. The summit has drawn several African leaders and is focused on trade and security ties. The presidency has not explained why Nigeria’s representation changed from the vice president to a minister of state.
