Military Says Airstrike Killed Over 40 ISWAP Fighters in Borno
The Nigerian military says an airstrike killed more than 40 suspected ISWAP fighters, including a senior commander, at Badu Village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State. Operation Hadin Kai said the October 10 operation followed intelligence that the group was preparing coordinated attacks on military positions. Aerial surveillance reportedly tracked movements around suspected hideouts and logistics facilities before the strike. The military said two vehicles and about 20 motorcycles were destroyed. The fighters were believed to belong to ISWAP's Murabitun unit, which carries out patrols and coordinates attacks. Further assessments of the strike are ongoing.
