Ghana Police Arrest Two Over Killing of Senegalese Goalkeeper Cheikh Toure
Ghana Police have arrested two suspects over the alleged kidnapping and killing of Cheikh Toure, an 18-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper, in Kumasi in October 2025. Police said people claiming to be Toure’s brothers took him to Manhyia Hospital with abdominal injuries, saying he had been involved in an accident. He was pronounced dead on arrival, while those who brought him later disappeared after depositing his body at a mortuary in Tafo. The two suspects were arrested in the Ashanti Region on September 20, 2026. Investigators allege they belonged to a four-man group that posed as football scouts and used online networks to lure victims into Ghana in an alleged fraud scheme. Police said two other suspects remain at large. The arrested men are in custody and are expected to face court proceedings.
