Remembering Patrick Dele Cole: Media Leader, Diplomat and Kalabari Icon
Patrick Dele Cole is remembered as a prominent figure in Nigerian journalism, diplomacy and public life. He led the Daily Times, served as a director of The Guardian, and later worked as a senior special assistant in the Obasanjo administration. His life also reflected his deep Kalabari heritage and his place within a generation of Rivers State leaders who built influence through public service, enterprise and national connections. His association with political figures such as Shehu Musa Yar’Adua placed him close to important moments in Nigeria’s political development. His passing is a loss to the Kalabari Kingdom and a reminder that younger generations must preserve the history, values and achievements of those who shaped their communities. May his memory endure, and may his family and community find comfort.
