Police Arrest Six Over Alleged Power Infrastructure Vandalism Behind Ikirun Blackout

Police in Osun State have arrested six people over the alleged vandalism of electricity infrastructure in Ikirun, where residents and surrounding communities have endured months of blackout. Officers reportedly intercepted the suspects around 6 a.m. on Tuesday at Eko-Ende Junction. They were allegedly cutting a high-tension power pole with a cutting machine powered by a generator. The suspects include three alleged IBEDC staff members, a security officer and two welders. Police said they recovered a cutting machine, generator and welding machine from the scene. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. The suspects are expected to be charged after investigations are concluded.
