Seeking an Advanced One-on-One Software Engineering Mentor for My 12-Year-Old Daughter

I am seeking an experienced one-on-one virtual software engineering mentor for my 12-year-old daughter. She is not a beginner. She already understands HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and needs project-based coaching beyond standard children’s coding classes. The mentor should be a practising software engineer or full-stack developer who can guide her in building web applications with a Python Flask or Django backend and a JavaScript frontend. Sessions should include screen-sharing, live code reviews, debugging, software architecture and Git version control. The mentor should also help her create a public GitHub portfolio. Please share your availability, mentoring experience and rates.

What kind of projects does she enjoy building most? That could help narrow the search for a mentor who can stretch her properly.

Absolutely, knowing the areas she finds most exciting would make it easier to find a mentor who is a strong fit.

It is encouraging that she already has HTML, CSS and JavaScript foundations; project-based guidance sounds like a sensible next step.

Foundations matter, but an advanced one-on-one mentor may need to assess her goals before choosing project work.

Advanced mentoring matters, but it may be worth avoiding labels too early; a strong mentor should still adapt the pace to her age and goals.

Ask prospective mentors for a small project plan, regular feedback approach, and examples of how they teach beyond standard coding classes.
