Anyim Backs North for Presidency After Tinubu’s Second Term, South-East Next

Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim says President Bola Tinubu should be allowed to complete a second term before the presidency rotates to the North and later to the South-East. Speaking in an interview, Anyim said the South-East must build political alliances with other regions to improve its chances of producing a president. He described this as political strategy rather than a judgment on any administration’s performance. He also said democracy should be guided by justice, inclusion, citizens’ rights and the rule of law. Anyim added that he respects Peter Obi but did not support his 2023 presidential bid because they belonged to different political parties. Anyim said the APC could still expand its influence in the South-East despite Obi’s strong political support in the region.
