Why I Believe Nigeria Needs a Referendum on Its Future
I believe Nigeria needs a nationwide conversation about its political structure and the 1999 Constitution. In my view, relying on the 2027 election alone will not address the country’s deeper challenges. I argue that Nigerians should consider a referendum that could lead to constitutional reform, greater decentralisation or a new national arrangement. I also question the colonial foundations of Nigeria and whether the current system truly reflects the wishes and identities of its people. The video invites Nigerians to reflect on these issues and decide what kind of country they want to build.
