Gunmen Ambush NFSS Outpost in Gidan Waya, Kill Four Guards and Student
The Nigerian Forest Security Service says armed attackers stormed its hunters’ office in Gidan Waya, Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State, killing four operatives and a student who was at the post to resolve an issue. According to the command’s intelligence officer, the gunmen approached from two sides around 8 p.m., opening fire on personnel as they carried out their duties. Three other officers were wounded and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A local resident suggests the attack may be retaliation against the NFSS’s anti-banditry efforts. Residents gathered at the scene, where bloodstains remained visible, to discuss the latest violence in an area that had enjoyed a brief period of calm.
