Women’s Groups Criticise Rep Obi Aguocha Over Video Featuring Demeaning Song

Women’s groups in the Ikwuano/Umuahia area of Abia State have criticised Representative Obi Aguocha over a circulating video showing him singing along at a public gathering. Critics say the Ogele cultural song in the video contains lyrics they consider degrading to women. They also raised concerns that families and children were present at the event. The Ikwuano/Umuahia Concerned Women’s Forum called on Aguocha to explain his involvement and apologise to women in the constituency. Aguocha had not publicly responded to the criticism at the time of the report.
