MACBAN Accuses Religious Leaders of Fueling Violence in Recent Jos Attacks
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned the deadly assault on Angwan Rukuba in Jos North LGA, Plateau State. On Sunday, March 29, armed assailants struck at a local bar, killing at least 28 people and injuring many others. MACBAN president Baba Othman-Ngelzarma criticized certain religious influencers for using reckless and inflammatory language. He warned that such rhetoric only worsens division and undermines peaceful coexistence in the state. The group urged all religious and community leaders to promote dialogue and restraint. It also called on security agencies to investigate and prosecute anyone—religious or otherwise—found inciting violence. MACBAN pledged to work with government, civil society, and faith institutions to restore lasting peace in Plateau and beyond.
