Ebonyi Police Arrest Man Accused of Posing as Lawyer for 11 Years
The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested Ugwumba Francis Enyinnaya, who is accused of posing as a legal practitioner for more than 11 years. Police said the arrest followed a petition alleging that he collected ₦650,000 from a resident of Ohaozara Local Government Area in March 2026. He allegedly promised to help secure approval for the naming of a street. Investigators said the suspect appeared in court and prepared legal documents while falsely presenting himself as a barrister. A search of his apartment reportedly recovered an NBA seal, legal robes, wigs, certificates, court judgments and documents including powers of attorney and deeds of conveyance. Police said he admitted during questioning that he was not a lawyer and has been charged to court. Residents were advised to verify the credentials of anyone offering legal services.
