Kenyan President Tours Dangote Refinery Ahead of Planned Lamu Project
Kenya’s president visited the Dangote Refinery in Lekki, Lagos, ahead of the planned groundbreaking for the Dangote East African Refinery in Lamu, Kenya. The Nigerian facility has a refining capacity of 700,000 barrels of crude per day and produces petrol, diesel and aviation fuel. It also uses about 120 kilometres of sea pipelines to transport crude oil from ships to the refinery. The proposed Kenyan refinery is expected to support fuel supply reliability, industrial growth and job creation in Kenya and the wider East African region. Plans also include potential supporting industries such as fertiliser, chemicals and packaging production.
