Should Nigeria Link the President’s Salary to CEO Pay?

I believe the National Assembly should first establish fair wage structures across the country before fixing the President’s salary. The minimum wage should come first, followed by pay for supervisors, managers and senior executives. A CEO’s pay should reflect the size, profitability and competitiveness of the company. A company with a large share of a bigger economy, such as India, may reasonably pay its CEO more than a similar company in Nigeria. I support a ceiling that keeps CEO salaries within a reasonable multiple of senior managers’ pay. Since Nigeria operates a free-market system, the government can consider the country’s highest CEO salary when reviewing the President’s pay, while ensuring public-sector wages remain fair and accountable.
