Fireboy DML says moving to Lagos in 2016 to pursue music was frightening at first. During a recent livestream, the singer recalled struggling to adjust to life in Surulere. He said he encountered disturbing scenes within his first two weeks in the city, including a mental-health crisis, dead bodies and suspected cult activity. He added that the experience initially left him scared of the people around him. Despite the shock, Fireboy said he chose not to give up and gradually adapted to Lagos life.
