Tinubu Will Defeat Atiku and Obi Even if They Unite in 2027, Fayose Predicts

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose says President Bola Tinubu would defeat Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, even if the two opposition figures form a joint ticket. Speaking on a television political programme, Fayose said separate bids by Atiku, Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso would further split opposition votes. He predicted that Tinubu would win at least 12 million votes and secure a margin of at least six million votes in the South-West. Fayose cited the 2023 election results, in which Tinubu polled 8.79 million votes, Atiku received 6.98 million and Obi got 6.10 million. He also argued that power should remain in the South for two terms before returning to the North, adding that electoral manipulation has become more difficult.
