APGA House of Reps Aspirant Ambushed in Anambra, Two Aides Shot
Tension rose in Idemili North, Anambra State when APGA House of Representatives aspirant Dr. Ifeanyi Ibezi’s security team came under fire at a community civic centre in Abatete. Two of his aides were wounded and have been rushed to surgery. Dr. Ibezi said he arranged a stakeholders’ meeting at the venue but received a purported letter barring him from using it. He claimed the notice surfaced online and was never formally delivered or verified. Early Sunday, armed men reportedly on the local government chairman’s orders cordoned off the site. The operatives fired warning shots for over an hour, escalating into a confrontation that left two officers injured. The Anambra Police Command confirmed the attack while investigations continue. Dr. Ibezi has appealed to state authorities to uphold his constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
