Ogun State Issues Warning to Market Traders over Illegal Waste Dumps

Ogun State Issues Warning to Market Traders over Illegal Waste Dumps

The Ogun State Waste Management Authority has warned market leaders and traders against dumping refuse inside market premises. The MD of OGWAMA spoke after crews cleared long-standing waste heaps at the Farmers Market in Ifo and Mamu Market in Ijebu North. He described dumping within market areas as unacceptable. It creates environmental hazards and risks contaminating food, leading to potential food poisoning and disease spread. The state government has engaged market leaders on proper disposal methods. It will not tolerate a return to illegal dumping, and any market found violating sanitation rules could be shut down to protect public health.
