Akpabio Calls on Nigerians to Hold Lawmakers Accountable
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged Nigerians to actively engage and hold their elected representatives to account. He described the Senate as a “workshop of solutions” rather than just a forum for debate. Akpabio highlighted that while social media can amplify noise, the legislative process addresses real problems and turns public concerns into policy. He encouraged citizens to bring their grievances directly to their senators. Speaking at the resumption of plenary after committee work, he reminded lawmakers that the nation’s life never pauses. He called representation a living covenant between the people and those they elect. He also stressed the importance of the national budget as a declaration of national intention. He urged senators to place the country’s interest above politics and to deploy resources to strengthen institutions and improve lives.
