Ekiti’s FAAC Allocation Fell to Minus ₦6.69bn After Deductions in January
Ekiti State received a gross FAAC allocation of ₦15.57 billion in January 2026, but deductions of ₦21.21 billion left it with a net balance of minus ₦6.69 billion. The deduction was listed as “Other Deductions” and exceeded the state’s full monthly allocation. FAAC records reviewed for the period show that ₦831.7 billion was deducted from the gross allocations of Nigeria’s 36 states before the funds reached them. The deductions covered external debt service, contractual obligations under Irrevocable Standing Payment Orders, other liabilities and VAT deductions for Lagos. Ekiti had the largest share of its allocation deducted, with ₦44 billion removed from ₦157.6 billion in gross allocations. Kaduna followed with 25.3% deducted, while Bauchi recorded 23.7%. The figures show how debt repayments and prior obligations can reduce the funds available to state governments each month.
