Lagos Court Orders Final Forfeiture of Property Linked to Wanted Drug Suspect
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of a property in Ago Palace, Okota, to the Federal Government. The property consists of four three-bedroom flats and a four-bedroom duplex, and was linked by the NDLEA to wanted suspect Chidozie Francis Orji. The order followed an NDLEA raid on August 7, 2026, during which operatives reportedly recovered 37,760 kilogrammes of codeine-laden cough syrup. The agency said investigations also linked Orji to drugs recovered from two rented warehouses in the area, including about 190.9 tonnes of codeine-containing cough syrup and one tonne of tramadol. The NDLEA told the court that the property’s previous owner confirmed selling it to Orji and provided a deed of assignment and payment records. The agency said Orji had not come forward to explain the property or claim an interest in it. After no one opposed the application, Justice Akintayo Aluko ordered the final forfeiture.
