Ebonyi Ends Three-Month Curfew on Amasiri and Okporojo After Deadly Boundary Clash
Ebonyi State Government has lifted the curfew on Amasiri in Afikpo LGA and neighbouring Okporojo in Edda LGA. The announcement followed a State Security Council meeting led by Governor Francis Nwifuru in Abakaliki. The curfew was imposed in February 2026 after violent clashes over boundary lines. At least four people were reportedly beheaded during the dispute. The state’s DSS director confirmed that schools and healthcare centres have reopened. Security personnel will stay deployed to maintain peace. The Attorney-General added that both communities have shown remorse and willingness to reconcile, and the council rejected a proposal to delist Amasiri Development Centre from the state’s 64 centres.
