Eight Dead, Five Rescued After Speedboats Collide Near Cross River-Cameroon Border
Eight passengers have died after two speedboats collided near the Tikoro area in Cameroon territorial waters. Police said one of the boats was carrying 13 Nigerians from Ikang in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State to Cameroon when the crash occurred on September 6. Five passengers were rescued by local fishermen, while the bodies of the eight victims were later recovered and taken to Simon Beach in Ikang. Marine Police in Ikang have been directed to identify the victims and deposit the bodies in a morgue as investigations continue.
