Five Arraigned in Ota Over Alleged Assault on Ogun Police Officers
The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned five suspects at the Ota Magistrate Court over the alleged assault and obstruction of police officers around the Bells area of Iyana-Iyesi, Ota. Police said a patrol team had arrested a suspect allegedly found with substances suspected to be Indian hemp. While officers were taking the handcuffed suspect to the station, a group allegedly attacked them with cutlasses, stones and bottles. The attack reportedly injured officers, damaged a police vehicle and enabled the suspect to escape. The five defendants face counts including conspiracy, assault on police officers, obstruction of lawful duty and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects who fled.
