Armel Crawford, 26, has been arraigned for murdering his 61-year-old mother in their Far Rockaway home on July 7. Prosecutors say he inflicted 11 stab wounds with a machete, including a blow to the abdomen that pierced her liver. He also shoved the blade down her throat, causing fatal internal injuries. Police found the victim around 10:40 a.m. and arrested Crawford after he ran from the scene and waded into the ocean to evade capture.
