Army Rescues Six Zamfara Hostages in Katsina Operation
Troops from the 17 Brigade under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued six abductees at Unguwan Doka in Faskari LGA, Katsina State, on June 29, 2026. The victims—four women and two toddlers—were abandoned by fleeing terrorists as the military intensified its offensive. Identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku (30), Amina Isiaku (25), Fatima Saidu (22), Huzaima Nasiru (16), Usman Surajo (1) and Dauda Isiaku (18 months), they said they were kidnapped on March 11, 2026, along the Tsafe–Bilbis Road in Zamfara State. They spent over three months in captivity before being left behind. Military sources say the rescued victims are receiving medical care and will soon be reunited with their families. This success forms part of wider ongoing operations to dismantle terrorist enclaves and secure communities across the North-West.
