Colorado Family Mourns 5-Year-Old Allegedly Killed by His 11-Year-Old Brother
On March 10 in Centennial, Colorado, five-year-old Elias Reliford was found dead at home after an alleged attack by his eleven-year-old brother. The boys had returned from school and the younger child was napping when the incident occurred. Their great-aunt, Dawn Myles, said the older brother had been asked to do chores during Elias’s nap. Authorities have charged the eleven-year-old with first-degree murder, but have not released detailed information because both children are minors. Myles described the act as the most horrendous anyone could commit on a child. She said the brothers were inseparable, often playing together outdoors. Elias loved riding his scooter and playing pranks in the neighborhood. The family has left their home and is staying in hotels while they find a permanent place. Their twelve-year-old sibling is now with relatives in Louisiana. The eleven-year-old suspect is held at the youth services center. Myles hopes Elias will be remembered smiling and riding his scooter as the happy kindergartner he was.
