Stray Cat Disrupts Murder Trial, Forces Courtroom Switch

Stray Cat Disrupts Murder Trial, Forces Courtroom Switch

A stray cat wandered into the Bulawayo High Court during a murder hearing on June 3, 2026. Its mournful wail brought proceedings to a halt and prompted officials to step in. Four police officers, four prison guards and court staff tried to escort the feline out. The cat dashed across the room and hid under the judge’s bench, refusing to budge. Officials ultimately abandoned the chamber and moved the trial to a different courtroom. Despite the interruption, the hearing resumed and Bright Tshuma was later convicted of murder and sentenced to 20 years.
