Troops Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, Destroy Terrorist Camp in Anambra
Troops of Operation UDO KA, working with the Anambra Vigilante Group, have rescued three people kidnapped around the Osakwa area of Ihiala Local Government Area. The Nigerian Army said troops later arrested a suspect, Sunday Obi, during a snap operation on October 1. Information obtained from him led the security team to a suspected kidnapping camp at Abator in Ogbaru Local Government Area. The troops reportedly crossed the waterways in canoes and engaged the suspects, who fled with gunshot wounds. Security personnel recovered two AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, locally made guns, ammunition, cartridges and suspected materials for making improvised explosive devices. They also recovered solar equipment, batteries and mobile phones believed to support the group’s operations. Investigations are continuing to identify and dismantle the wider kidnapping network.
